I ended up looking a different energy sources for the world, like what kept it in balance? Whether it was somehting like a mechanical bridge between the two islands, some sort of engine kind of like a rocket or a magic crystal. I also had the idea of each island having weights hanging from the bottom of them so the smalls would have more weights on their island because the Bigs would weigh more due to their size. As well as this I looked at how each island would look- would they mirror each other or be opposites? These where the kind of questions I was thinking when sketching down ideas. For example I did the Smalls island with thin sharp looking structures and the Bigs island with large chunky structures. Or instead on an actual island I looked at completely different shapes and structures that the creatures could live on. New group:

If you get that reference, I’m sorry..
It’s Pumpkin World! Pumpkin world is a warm and cosy place which is set inside the actual pumpkin itself. The petals I stuck around the edges of my sketch book where to help give a better sense of the colours for the world and to also tie in the whole 'natural' aspect of it. Pumpkin seeds are used as the homes for the residents living there, vines act as bridges which connect to all corners of the pumpkin. The stem runs through to the centre of the pumpkin- wrapped in lamps and lanterns to provide light. The pumpkin has a carved face into the front of it which acts as the entrance in and out it. The face can also open and close to keep the residents inside safe. The idea was to be tied into my team member’s work which can be viewed here: https://maggiemcdermottsite.wordpress.com/author/maggiecmcdermott/ where she designed incredibly cute characters that could be incorporated into this kind of world. A concept I came up with was a world inside a Lava Lamp. The blobs inside the lava lamp would have cities on them- party cities full of clubs and neon lights, the light from the cities is what makes a lava lamp glow when you turn it on. I wanted the world the be full of colour and constantly full of action, I also thought of this world having a really flexible structure to it so the ground can move and the cities can bend. The blobs are able to break apart and form new shapes inside a lava lamp so the cities that spawn on them are able to come apart and reform if separated- meaning the world is never really the same, it's constantly changing. This would probably mean you would get lost pretty easy.
So basically the world is always shifting and moving until the lava lamp is switch off. At this point the lava lamp cools down so the world inside would start to calm down and the cities would eventually switch off and go dark. For the creatures living there it would be at this time they rest and recover for the next time the cities get switched back on. It would be the energy and light the city gives off which provides these creatures energy and causes them to be hyper. I didn’t look into the creatures so much as I was more focused on the actual world design but I kind of imagine them being some sort of blobs.
I like this idea but I also don't know what to do with it. We were given the task of 'Creating a world' and put into groups. The group I have been put into (Maggie, Hollie and Sarah) decided to throw up some ideas onto the whiteboard. They came up with really good ideas, for example a world inside a decomposing body, world of silence, world with one light source, living in a lie and much more. While I had the dumb and fun ideas like pumpkin world or rave world where everyone was a Basshunter fan. While writing ideas up on the whiteboard I tried to steer the group away from an 'Apocalypse on Earth' kind of idea simply because it's extremely overdone and very easy to do (in my opinion). I think this helped us all think outside of the box a little more and come up with more unique scenarios for a world.
For the concept drawings below- I was playing around with a few ideas I most likely won't use. I was just throwing up ideas onto paper. The random pen drawings where quick ideas for a world of silence, so everything looks really calm and still. I also drew some planets inspired by the concept art I was looking at previously. The animal concepts where to do with cities (worlds) living on the backs of creatures or within the fur. A world on the back of an animal would be really pretty looking but it’s hardly an original idea. I also thought of having a civilisation in the mane of a lion or on the back of a zebra. For the zebra the black stripes would have one type of tribe and white another that live in their own territories. For the lion I was thinking of a similar idea with a tribe of creatures which use the hairs like 'trees'. Rest of group:
