On 24/10/2016 we where tasked with a photography project! Tomorrow we are to present them alongside the animatic we have been working on in our groups. We where given 6 themes: Colour, Perspective, Texture, Depth of Field, Tonality and Scale. The task was: Take 70-100 photos for each theme Select best ones from each theme Select best 6 over all And tomorrow we are to present our favourites. Below are my best 6 from each inluding my number one favourites (favourite one will be at top, the other 5 below) Before starting the task I had a look at this book online- It give a good insight on compostion, exposure and light when taking photos, this also came in handy for when I was editing my favourite photos. I also shot all my photos from my phone because I don't have a camera, so when the lighting wasn't good the quality got a bit iffy which was a bit annoying. All of the photos I took can be seen on my Flickr! TonalityFor the tonality I struggled trying to get good photos that would tie in with the theme. Most of the photos I took ended up being filtered into black and white, I did manage to find some pieces that where already tonal in colour- I feel like I really limited myself when doing this part as I associate tonal with being in black and white or greys, so that is how I did my photos, when I could have also looked at tonal in terms or colour. For example I could have included warm tones or cool tones in photos when first attempting this part of the project. I only managed to get two photos I liked in this style. ColourConsidering it was October when this project was first started, most of my outdoor photos for colour ended up being autumn colours- mainly of scenery where the leaves on the trees where bright oranges or yellow. Other than that I took photos of anything with multicolor or that was vibrant like a rainbow slinky or rainbow beads stuck in a glass coke bottle..just random things. I also took a view photos of fast moving traffic at night or moved my camera about as I was taking a photo of car lights. This made for some really cool photos of light moving in different shapes.. not really colourful but cool, I felt like I needed to include it somehow. I was also able to get loads of colourful photos from the Christmas Market when it arrived! PerspectivePerspective was pretty easy. Of course, most photos where of fields, lanes or alley ways but I also tried to get a view different versions of perspective. I ended up doing a photo shoot with my horse to get the photos I wanted- I took photos where my camera is sitting on her back or a point of view from in between her ears or below her legs so the camera was looking up at her. I also stood on a chair to try and capture a birds eye view. I also ended up getting a similar view with the dogs and got a really nice birds eye of one of them walking towards me. ScaleI had a lot of fun at attempting the scale theme as I own a few tiny pets that make small objects look big. For example I used my tortoise in size comparison to a strawberry, I also got a lot of photos of one of my budgies on a tiny skateboard, most of these photos where really stupid and cute. I then did some normal ones where I did a close of a tennis ball with a basket ball in the background- the way the camera was angled made them look the same size or the tennis ball bigger than the basket ball. Depth of FieldI found this theme quite difficult as well.. maybe not difficult but challenging as getting photos of things up close with the background blurry isn’t hard to do, but getting different types of depth of field images was. Most of my photos ended up being close ups of objects with the background blurred out anyway. TextureTexture, again, easy! Everything has texture, I just took macro shots of things like leaves, cracked walls or tiled floors. Getting photos of fur, scales or feathers was also no problem considering the amount of animals I have running around. I was also able to get some photos of sheep’s fur up at the yard. It’s funny what good filtering and a good camera angle can do to a pile of ropes.
