After playing around on Maya a bit and finally getting it on my own computer, I attempted this mess! I learnt how to use the curve tool, extrude a cylinder and get it to bend with the shape of the curve using subdivisions. Immediately my mind was like ‘that kinda looks like it could be a tentacle’ and so I decided to make a pretty cute sea monster. Or.. pool monster. Below are some work in progress shots. Once I made one tentacle for the back on the monster I just duplicated it, resized and positioned the rest at different angles. The spikes were done by extruding faces or vertices points. The larger tentacles at the front where done the same way. For the pool effect I just used the ocean shader. I ended up changing a few things along the way though. The lighting is not right but that’s something I’m still trying to get the hang of. I also couldn’t get the water effect to render so when I find the time I need to go back and fix it. It’s a bit messy but I think it came out okay!
